I’ve been talking a lot about Fall trends – and while i’m all for a new season and new fashion, I also like finding small ways to update the pieces already in my wardrobe. One of the ways I’m most excited about this season is adding a silk scarf to my outfits. The obvious way is tied around your neck, but after picking up this printed Italian silk scarfa few weeks ago I’ve been finding all sorts of ways to wear it. It’s a small touch that I think makes a big impact, without a big investment this season.
How is it that it’s already almost the Fourth of July?!? The month of June has been flying past me, so this weekend Adam and I snuck away to the lake house and for a couple of blissful days, time practically stood still. And for the short lived time that I put on anything besides a bathing suit – this is what I wore. Which would be perfect for the upcoming weekend’s festivities.
If I’m being completely honest, I’ve been in a bit of creative blog slump for the past few weeks. While lots could be to blame (being busy at work, conflicting travel schedule between Adam and I, life in general…) – the result was that I was turning out posts that I felt less than excited about. Which has never been the point of this little space. It’s meant to be a place where you turn for inspiration to get out there and explore your own city (and beyond!) in style. Not a guide for to how to stand in front of a wall and smile… but there it was. Lucky for us all – on Friday I had the day off work (all hail Summer Fridays) and so I picked myself and headed to one of my favorite happy places in the city. The Met’s rooftop. With sweeping views of the city and a glass of rosé in hand, I felt inspired all over again and by the time Adam caught up with me that evening I was brimming with new ideas. A change of view will do that to a girl I guess. So stick around, we’ve got lots coming your way these next few weeks that I’m truly excited to share – starting with today’s post shot on one of my favorite streets in Greenwich Village.
If you follow me on Instagram then you already know that a lot of my day to day looks don’t always make it all the way to the blog – so I thought I’d share a few recent Spring looks from social that feature pieces I’ve had on repeat lately. From weekends to casual work days I’ve been living in easy stripes (like this linen drawstring dress– under $40!), denim pieces in new silhouettes (like flares and a chambray trapeze top) and wear with everything accessories (like white sneakers, a navy satchel and pretty pearl bracelet).
p.s. In case you’re ever curious about where I got something that you spied on my Instagram page – you can always find links to items here.
While I’m not over the colors of Fall (like this burgundy orange mix, shades of mustard and brown, or this navy plaid combo) quite yet.. now that it’s November and we’re moving into the true Holiday season, I’m excited to start adding a few festive pops of red to get into the spirit of things early. I figured, if Starbucks is already handing out red cups…
