For a few brief hours on Saturday morning, there was a hint of Spring in the air. I used the window as an excuse to wander some of my favorite streets in the West Village, chai latte and hydrangeas in hand, debuting a couple of spring pieces that I’ve been (impatiently) waiting to wear. Of course, then it started to rain and I tucked them back into my closet. But for those brief hours, all was right in the world.
SHOP THE STORY
I’ve talked about it quite a bit before, but ruffles, volume and off the shoulder are all big trends for spring. I like the flounce of this ruffle sleeve top paired with the structure of this denim midi skirt (with a button front and slit just high enough to make this skirt date night ready). They’re calling the trend ‘modern romance’. I’m calling it Laura Ingalls Wilder circa 2017. Either way – this top will work great with a pair of shorts and sandals come summer and this skirt would work at the office with a blazer and loafers. So while they may be ‘trendy’ they’re also going to get a ton of wear. Plus, both pieces were under $60… so that’s a love story all its own.
