WINTER KNIT SWEATER AND SUEDE BOOTS

Fair Isle Sweater, Button Front Denim Skirt and Suede Knee High Boots

It kind of goes without saying if you leave anywhere along the East Coast – but the weather we had in New York this weekend was pretty spectacular. It was almost hard to believe that we were Christmas shopping without being weighed down by a winter coat, but by some fluke we got a mid-December weekend in the 60s and so I dressed accordingly.

WINTER NEUTRALS

Winter neutrals in striped cashmere scarf and turtleneck sweater

The fact that I’m still sporting bare legs in mid December is a fact that I’m not letting go uncelebrated. Because colder days will eventually come (and so will Monday again) so you gotta make the most of it while you can right?

HOLIDAY PARTY STYLE: BUFFALO PLAID SHIRT AND METALLIC MAXI SKIRT

Holiday Party Style: Talbots buffalo plaid shirt, metallic maxi skirt and embellished flats

If you’ve been stopping by lately (and thanks if that’s the case!) then you already know that I’m wayyyy into the holiday spirit. Christmas records on repeat, fresh wreath making, tree trimming.. all of it. And outfits are no exception (this one is great for your office party and this one is a standout for a holiday dinner party). This one was the most thrown together but may be one of my favorites – because it balances the fine line between comfy and casual and dressed up glitz.

CASUAL PLAID AND DISTRESSED DENIM: TWO WAYS

Plaid top and distressed denim with loafers

I was originally going to show these outfits in two separate posts – but when I noticed that both featured a casual plaid top, distressed denim and loafers.. I figured they were meant to be twinning together. Turns out this is my go-to weekend look because for the past two Saturdays I’ve reached for some variation. Comfortable, casual and a tiny bit holiday-inspired? A winning combo in my book.

Plaid top and distressed denim with loafers

An easy flannel button-down is a staple this time of year and when you pair it with a v-neck tee (these are my absolute favorite) there’s almost nothing more comfortable. This look is pretty no frills, so I added these holiday loafers (they’re embroidered with a car carrying a christmas tree on one foot and a tree-lined road on the other!) to put a little extra pep in my step. I’m definitely wearing these when we go to pick out our tree this weekend.

HOLIDAY PARTY STYLE WITH TALBOTS

Holiday Party Style: Talbots Gingham Skirt and Steve Madden Lace-Up Heels

While a little black dress and black pumps will get you pretty far in the holiday party season – I’d like to make a case for this full gingham skirt and these burgundy lace-up heels instead. Family dinner? Office party? Date night to see the Rockettes? Check mate. This outfit is my ideal mix of classic and modern.. with a little touch of holiday flair thrown in for good measure.
