The Steele Maiden: NYFW Mod style with Bardot hair and butterfly printed silk shift dress

Short and sweet. Accurately describing my dress and also my NYFW experience this go around. But we’ll start with the outfit shall we? You already know that my favorite style decade is the 60s so when I’m really going for it fashion-wise, I tend to draw from that time period. I went mod with this butterfly printed silk shift dress (a nod to my late grandmother who loved nothing more than a bright butterfly and a new outfit), sheer dotted tights, sleek booties, rose colored glasses and Bardot hair.

NYFW LOOK 1: FLARE JEANS AND TEDDY BEAR COAT

NYFW street style: Express flare leg denim and teddy bear coat

Between being sick on and off for the past couple of weeks (stomach bug meets terrible cold.. ugh) and the insane temps this past weekend – I’ve been a bit of a Fashion Week dropout this go around. Sometimes your body just screams at you to rest, and you’ve got no choice but to listen. When I did go out it was briefly, and I dressed warmly and comfortably with a small side of style.

NYFW DAY 3: SUEDE OTK BOOTS

We’re in the home stretch of Fashion Week (it passed in it’s usual blur) and my schedule is starting to slow down. Which means I have time to look through all of the things that came down the runway and make sense of them in terms of next Spring’s trends (spoiler alert: Seventies style isn’t going anywhere). LITTLE RED DRESS

The Steele Maiden: NYC street style wearing LOFT red shirttail dress

 

It’s become a little tradition with Adam and I to have a NYC staycation over Memorial Day weekend. The city all but empties out and it’s fun to kick off Summer in the city where we live and love. Sunday the streets felt deserted and I hit the pavement in this little red dress.
