I know we’re still a week or so out, but I can’t help but already be mulling over what to pack for Labor Day weekend. As Summer’s official last hurrah I always use it as a chance to wear my season’s favorites (swimsuit, cutoffs and sandals I’m lookin’ at you) but also as a chance to work in a few early fall pieces – like a lightweight cargo jacket and lace-up sweater. Below, what will be in my own bag (this weekend as I head to the beach for my cousin’s wedding and next when we most likely head to the lake).
Reunited and it feels sooooo good! After 6 long days, countless stops in to Dr. Brendan’s(the East Village magicians/Mac doctors that diagnosed, tried, tried, tried again, and finally repaired), my laptop is safely back in my arms. With every single piece of my original data and running faster than it has since 2009. I swear if you are in New York you are wasting your time/money at the Apple Genius Bar. See my friends at Dr B’s instead (not sponsored, I’m just truly an enthusiastic customer).
Regardless, it cost me a week’s worth of posts here on the blog and I have lots to share – so I’m starting tonight with a quick little Instagram round-up from some of my favorite outfits, accessories and interiors from the past week or so. Details below and be sure to tune in this week as I bring you 5 consecutive days (I promise!) of fun new content.
I’ve worn this striped linen dress at least once a week since I picked it up earlier this season. It’s impossibly comfortable (and it doesn’t wrinkle!) and just heavy enough weight to make it work for these cool spring mornings when paired with a light jacket.
This weekend Adam and I were back home in Pennsylvania for my cousin’s bridal shower and to spend time with family. Which would have been lovely on it’s own – but add to it the first weekend of near 70 degree weather and it was pretty much perfect. I packed my favorite new wide brim straw boater hat and easy white eyelet skirt – both of which ended up being just the thing for a casual Sunday afternoon among the wildflowers.
I pride myself on the fact that the outfits seen here on The Steele Maiden always remain true to my real life. However, I noticed recently that there’s one very real part of me that rarely gets seen here. Which is a bad pun, because without them I can’t clearly see to the end of the next city block. I’m talking about eyeglasses, which I wear for distance (aka all the hours not spent behind a computer screen).. and yet you almost never see them here. It’s partially because they often catch a glare on the camera but more truthfully it’s because I guess I never think they look as cool as sunglasses for a day look or quite right with a ‘date look’. Silly, right? So today – I teamed up with VSP Direct to share how I wear my glasses casually for day and also for a simple spring date look.
