FALL FLORALS: BANANA REPUBLIC DRESS

The Steele Maiden: Fall Florals - Banana Republic Dress and Lace-Up Suede Heels

During my stint at NYFW I played up a few of the season’s big trends (Seventies Style here and Bold Prints/Bomber Jackets here) – but by far one of the trends that I’m most excited about this season is dark Fall Florals. They’re obviously pretty but there’s also a slight seductiveness about them that is just begging for a brisk Autumn date night.

NYFW DAY 2: POLKA DOT BOMBER JACKET

The Steele Maiden: NYFW Street Style - Polka Dot Bomber Jacket Yellow Bag

My second day of NYFW was arguably one of my most fun – and I like to think that had a lot do with this outfit. I talked about it yesterday, but I like to go bolder than my typical style when it comes to Fashion Week and head to toe polka dots with a pop of sunny yellow surely qualifies, right? For this look I played up the bomber jacket trend which is everywhere for Fall. This one is my pick of the season because it’s reversible – lively dots on one side, essential cool black on the other. Win, win.

NYFW DAY 1: SEVENTIES INSPIRED STYLE

The Steele Maiden: NYFW Street Style - Suede dress, Metallic Tassel Loafers and Olive Green Satchel

When it comes to New York Fashion Week (NYFW) – they say ‘go big or go home’. And while I still always want to feel like myself (especially as I’m meeting new brands/bloggers and representing my own brand), I definitely like to be bolder than the other 50 weeks of the year. For me – that means picking a few of the season’s biggest trends and really playing them up. On my first day of shows/events I went for a ‘Seventies inspired flight attendant’ vibe featuring this suede dress, structured handbag and metallic tassel loafers.

SUMMER TO FALL STYLE

Wear Now Wear Later - transitional trends for Summer to Fall

The shift between season is sartorially-speaking always the trickiest to me. The weather has never caught up but you’re craving what’s new. But practically-speaking transitional pieces are some of the hardest working in your wardrobe because they span the seasons. Here – a few of my favorites that will be so good once fall comes, but are great now too. There’s a seventies meets victorian romantic meets mod prep thing happening in fashion (okay maybe not all at once..) and I’m really on board. An olive green satchel bag? Absolutely. An embroidered mini skirt? Sign me up. Fall fashion should feel FUN, so why not start that party a little early, right?

SUMMER WEDDING GUEST STYLE: BLUE THIGH SLIT MAXI DRESS

Wedding Guest Style: Cobalt Blue Thigh Slit Maxi Dress

Aside from the occasional bridesmaid dress, I have attended countless weddings in some form of the same dress for the past 10 years. Just above the knee, nipped in waist and finished with a frill or a flounce or a floral for effect. And honestly, I love those dresses (this one especially). They’re flattering, classic and work well for dancing. But with 5 weddings on the docket this summer I was craving something different. Something that made an entrance, you know? Well, I found it.
