GINGHAM PANTS AND LEATHER MOTO JACKET

The Steele Maiden: Gingham Pants and Leather Jacket

Ankle-baring weather in February? I’ll take it. Actually I’ll take a free pass straight into April but that’s another (less likely) story.

SHOP THE STORY

This is always the time of year where I’m so sick of winter-wear but the weather isn’t nearly compatible for spring clothing. So I’m shopping my own closet. All of these pieces I’ve had and loved for at least a few seasons. These cropped gingham trousers were one of my favorite pairs from last Spring so I couldn’t wait to dust them off again. Along with a lighter leather jacket and my favorite slingback heels from last Fall and this green satchel that I’ve had for a couple of years and keep coming back to. Eventually I’ll get excited about the prospect of new clothes but in the meantime I’ll be re-mixing some of my old favorites and saving my pennies for Spring.

NYFW STYLE: SEVENTIES INSPIRED FOR FALL

NYFW Style: Seventies Inspired Style for Fall

A little late with this one, but aside from this look at NYFW – this one with a metallic striped dress and rose gold heels (serving us serious 70s vibes) was my favorite. The dress walks that fine line between being work appropriate but still totally fun – while the heels were basically made exclusively for dancing (through the streets or in Studio 54).

FALL TRENDS: OFF THE SHOULDER SWEATER

Fall Trends - Off the Shoulder Bell Sleeve Sweater

If you were following along this summer, than you know that I was wayyy on board with the off the shoulder trend. And honestly, felt a little sad about the thought of putting those tops and dresses away until next spring. Luckily for me, when fall trends started to surface I spotted the newest rendition – the off the shoulder sweater – and was relieved to find I could carry this style right into fall.

VISITING PORTLAND HEAD LIGHT IN FALL LAYERS WITH TALBOTS

Visiting Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth Maine wearing Talbots fall layers

And just like that – our vacation came and went. Adam and I spent the past several days road-tripping up the New England coast and exploring Maine. On our second day of the trip, we started off in Cape Elizabeth at Portland Head Light. Since weather was full out Fall up north (and windy by the ocean), I packed practically in light layers and cozy textures.

4 WAYS TO WEAR A SILK SCARF

The Steele Maiden: 4 Ways to Style a Silk Scarf for Fall

I’ve been talking a lot about Fall trends – and while i’m all for a new season and new fashion, I also like finding small ways to update the pieces already in my wardrobe. One of the ways I’m most excited about this season is adding a silk scarf to my outfits. The obvious way is tied around your neck, but after picking up this printed Italian silk scarf a few weeks ago I’ve been finding all sorts of ways to wear it. It’s a small touch that I think makes a big impact, without a big investment this season.
