I want to pretend like I’m too cool to get this excited over a pile of colorful leaves.. but honestly I’m not. And you shouldn’t be either. There’s a real joy to living in a place that has seasons, and after that year and a half stint I did out in LA I don’t think I’ll ever take it for granted again.

As much as I love Summer, some things – like picnics – are just infinitely better in the Fall. You don’t have to battle hot temps melting your food/drink, you can happily sit out all afternoon without breaking a sweat and (most importantly) apple cider donuts can be a main course. I’ve been talking a lot about Fall trends – and while i’m all for a new season and new fashion, I also like finding small ways to update the pieces already in my wardrobe. One of the ways I’m most excited about this season is adding a silk scarf to my outfits. The obvious way is tied around your neck, but after picking up this printed Italian silk scarf a few weeks ago I’ve been finding all sorts of ways to wear it. It’s a small touch that I think makes a big impact, without a big investment this season.

When you’re living out of a suitcase, I try and focus on a handful of classics – like a striped shirt and black pleated skirt – and then mix things up with statement accessories – like this plaid scarf/wrap and red sunglasses.

We’re in the home stretch of Fashion Week (it passed in it’s usual blur) and my schedule is starting to slow down.
