Stripes, denim, ankle boots.. they don’t call ’em classics for nothing. Truth be told, I wear some version of that trio a lot so when I can find a way to shake things up (even slightly) I do. Last weekend I opted for a slightly 90s take on the combo with this boxy denim jacket over a striped mini-dress, hoop earrings, and these instant cool-factor ivory ankle boots.

The weather has been making it decidedly difficult for me to incorporate spring styles. Basically a flash of ankle is all I’ve been able to manage these past couple of days. Lucky for me, these bold cropped trousers and gingham flats make that sliver of ankle way more exciting.

On Sunday I spent the morning dashing from one cab to another (that biting cold was not good for my wallet) before hunting down my Valentine and a nice warm meal for brunch. I’d been saving this plaid coat for the occasion but once I realized it wouldn’t be enough to combat 1 degree temps I added this denim jacket underneath. 40 degrees this week has never felt so good.

It seems like for every 4-5 freezing days we manage to get 1-2 warmer ones (which for January means I can’t really complain..), but it’s making this blog look a bit scattered. The silver lining is that if you’re in LA or Houston, you could take inspiration from outfits like these and if you’re with me in the North East you can take notes from posts like this one.
