These past couple of weeks, days have been a 9AM to 9PM (well.. 1AM if we’re being honest) blur of work, holiday parties, errands, more work.. it feels like the days are getting shorter leading up to Christmas somehow. So when I pick out an outfit, sleepy-eyed at 8AM – it needs to go the distance. This recent one did just that.
It kind of goes without saying if you leave anywhere along the East Coast – but the weather we had in New York this weekend was pretty spectacular. It was almost hard to believe that we were Christmas shopping without being weighed down by a winter coat, but by some fluke we got a mid-December weekend in the 60s and so I dressed accordingly.
The fact that I’m still sporting bare legs in mid December is a fact that I’m not letting go uncelebrated. Because colder days will eventually come (and so will Monday again) so you gotta make the most of it while you can right?
Aside from the perfect outfit – the next best thing to nailing the holiday party circuit is the perfect cocktail. Since crafting up new cocktails is a regular occurrence in The Steele Maiden household I thought I’d share this one we tried last weekend, which would be perfect if you’re hosting guests this season – or even to make a batch and bring as a hostess gift! Super easy to make, and even easier to drink but with a nice tart bite, and (admittedly important) so festive looking in bright red and green that your party cocktail will definitely will instagram-worthy. Cheers!
p.s. are cocktail recipes something you’d be interested in seeing more of? Thinking of sharing more from time to time!

If you’ve been stopping by lately (and thanks if that’s the case!) then you already know that I’m wayyyy into the holiday spirit. Christmas records on repeat, fresh wreath making, tree trimming.. all of it. And outfits are no exception (this one is great for your office party and this one is a standout for a holiday dinner party). This one was the most thrown together but may be one of my favorites – because it balances the fine line between comfy and casual and dressed up glitz.
