Wearing Duskii Swimsuit via Carbon38 c/o – I’m wearing a size small for reference, bottoms are definitely less bum coverage than some of my other suits, so if you’re worried may want to size up – the material is great quality though and feels like it will really hold up
I know this is slightly controversial.. but I happen to really like Valentine’s Day. And not just because I’m in a relationship. In fact, among some of my favorite Valentine’s Days memories were the ones spent with my best girl friends, drinking cheap beer and crafting homemade cards for each other. These days, Adam and I usually make dinner at home or go on a little adventure together somewhere in the city. As far as gifts go, if we do exchange I try to keep it small and sentimental – like a framed piece of artwork that reminds me of a shared memory (the one pictured above is from Minted which has an amazing selection, save 15% off their entire fine art selection with code VALENTINE16) or a vintage record to add to our collection. If you’re in need of a few more ideas.. for her, nothing beats pretty lace or a bit of sparkle and for him, luggage tags to prep for an upcoming trip or classic sunglasses are no-fail. And if you’re not shopping for someone in particular? How about you #treatyoself – because whether you are for or against the holiday, everyone could use a little extra love in the middle of winter, right?
It’s always around this time of year that shiny new Spring clothes and accessories start creeping into stores.. just when temperatures start dropping to below freezing. It’s like a cruel joke. One of the things that always helps me, is starting to work in Spring colors – in the form of a cozy sweater or even just a fresh manicure. This year, Pantone is making that easier than ever since they’ve dubbed ‘Rose Quartz’ and ‘Serenity’ the colors of 2016 (the first time they’ve ever had 2 picks!). I’m loving both of these mixed in with my predominantly neutral winter wardrobe. Rose Quartz plays nicely with grey or camel (how nice would this bag look against your winter coat?) and Serenity looks great paired casually with denim (these booties and boyfriend jeans is a winning combo). And both will likely be a much needed dose of Spring contrast against this weekend’s winter whites.. aka impending blizzard!
Whether you made a resolution to finally get back into that gym routine, try a new fitness class or just are trying to work off a few of those Christmas cookies (insert me raising my hand here) – it always helps me find a little extra motivation when I’ve got new fitness gear. Here, my tried and true favorites:
JACKETS AND VESTS:
I look for pieces that are warm but lightweight and easily packable for fitting in a gym bag. A half zip pulloveror quilted vest are great layering pieces for outdoor workouts or just getting to and from the gym.
LEGGINGS:
I used to go the cheap route here, but to be honest, after trying out slightly more premium options I don’t think I’ll ever go back when it comes to running leggings. These are so truly comfortable, moisture wicking and don’t wear out even after tons of wear and washing. But if you’re looking for an inexpensive option, these are on sale and work well for weight training or other lower intensity activities.
SPORTS BRAS:
Perhaps the most important layer – I have a variety based on activity. This maximum support option comes in cup sizes and are favorites for running, this medium support option works well for cycling or circuit training, and this low impact option is nice for barre classes or hot yoga.
TOPS:
My main concerns are soft and lightweight here – which luckily you can usually find on the cheap. A step up from your old freebie t-shirts but still totally affordable.
I’ve worn this exact pair for almost 5 years now (I keep buying the same pair, currently on 3rd generation), so I firmly suggest finding your ‘sole mate’ and sticking to it. I use them for running and all other higher impact workouts, and then use these for getting to and from yoga, barre or cycling classes.
While I still can’t quite believe that Christmas is this week, I’m having an even harder time believing that the end of 2015 is just around the corner! But before the year slips away, it’s time to pull out some sequins, dust off your dancing shoes and celebrate the last 365 days. Adam and I hid out in his family’s cabin last NYE but this year feels like one to go out and sip champagne with the rest of New York. Here, a few outfit ideas to get you in the mood. I’m loving this sequin shift(40% off right now!) with tassel earrings and embellished heels – or this cutout lace mini with metallic clutch and a pair of strappy heels.
