Generally speaking, I find myself drawn to smaller crossbody bags most of the time. Easier to keep my hands free and only tote around the necessities. But every once in awhile you just really need a classic satchel handbag. You know the kind. Grown-up women carry them. They’re for job interviews and meeting the parents and – in this case – strolling the Upper East Side. Even if the inside of that thing is a total mess – someone looks at you carrying that bag and they think you’ve got your shit together. It feels nice to have a bag like that in your arsenal.
SHOP THE STORY
This Lauren Ralph Lauren navy satchel is exactly one of those bags. The kind that, since I won’t carry it every single day (although if you had a more corporate job you totally could and should) I can really see it lasting me for years to come. I made it feel a little more personal by tying on a striped silk scarf – I’ve also been tying this one around my straw hats lately! But it really does stand alone. And if navy isn’t your thing (I can’t help it.. I swear I even dream in shades of blue), it also comes in classic black and a really versatile tan. Can’t you just picture it with trousers and a chunky turtleneck sweater come Fall too? Very Upper East Side on holiday in Rome. Aka life goals.
