Dressing for summer in New York City poses a particular set of challenges. You want to look put together enough for meetings at the office, brunch downtown, rooftop drinks and the general level of chic that this city demands (and deserves).. but at the same time. It’s hot. Like 100% humidity, elbow to elbow with sweaty strangers enduring a subway train breeze, radiating from the pavement you stand on… hot. This chambray cutout dress from Lou & Grey is definitely up to the challenge.
SHOP THE STORY
By this point you all know I love anything and everything denim – even more so when it can be dressed up or down. This dress is the softest of chambrays (if you haven’t tried Lou & Grey, sister brand of Loft and Ann Taylor – you need to for the comfort of their fabrics alone.. seriously though) and the back cutout works like built in ventilation. Plus the cutout is of the size and placement that still allows for a regular bra which is a major win in my book. Loose waves (that work with not against the heat), black accessories (obsessed with these platform sandals – now on sale) and minimal makeup (because, sweat struggle is real) and this look had me alllllmost feeling like after 7 years here I had mastered summer in the city style.
