Aside from the occasional bridesmaid dress, I have attended countless weddings in some form of the same dress for the past 10 years. Just above the knee, nipped in waist and finished with a frill or a flounce or a floral for effect. And honestly, I love those dresses (this one especially). They’re flattering, classic and work well for dancing. But with 5 weddings on the docket this summer I was craving something different. Something that made an entrance, you know? Well, I found it.
SHOP THE STORY
If you follow me on snapchat (username: thesteelemaiden) you may have seen the Goldilocks-style dressing room diaries that led to me finding this one. The first dress I tried was too predictable, the second was too frumpy but this third one was justttt right. I’ve never worn a maxi dress to a wedding (let alone one with double thigh high slits), but there’s something so fun about going for a bold statement. While this particular dress is now sold-out online, you should check your local Banana Republic store and see if you can get lucky – otherwise, I’ve shared a few similar options that will give you this same effect. I’m planning on wearing this look to wedding #2 and #3 of the summer and have a feeling it’s going to take to the dance floor quite well.
