BUTTON FRONT MINI SKIRT AND LOAFERS

Central Park NYC wearing Urban Outfitters button front mini skirt and patent loafers

There’s just something about Fall fashion. For me it started longggg before I ever dreamt of attending NYFW, back when Fall fashion meant back to school shopping. And I’m pretty sure I would have snapped up this outfit from about the 5th grade on.

SHOP THE STORY

Since late 1960’s schoolgirl happens to be my style inspiration of choice most days – the trends this season are right up my alley. The button front mini skirt is probably the item of the season and while most often I’ve seen it in denim or suede, I spotted this offbeat corduroy version recently and knew I had to grab it. Perfect down the line with tights, but great right now with bare tanned legs and a sheer striped shirt. And has there ever been a more back to school (in 1968) shoe than the patent leather loafer? I can’t get over how good these are.

p.s. Adam and I took these photos in Central Park’s Conservatory Gardens – which I like to refer to as my own personal secret garden. Further uptown than most people venture this quiet little area is almost always nearly empty and with beautifully lush greens, pretty flowers and even a koi pond or two it’s one of my favorite spots to sneak away. If you’re interested in checking it out – take the 6 train to 103rd and walk to the park entrance on 5th Ave.
