As soon as we landed in Charleston I couldn’t wait to slip into this summer-y outfit. In fact, I had bought these shorts (on majorrrr sale) weeks before and was saving them for exactly this occasion. Well mainly for weather above 60 degrees. But a matching pastel-hued city definitely didn’t hurt.
By this point, it’s no secret that I love stripes. You’re probably sick of it. But the thing is, they just always work. Whether a comfortable striped mini dress for running errands on the weekend, a crisp striped midi shirt dress for a day at the office or a bold striped maxi wrap dress for an unexpected date night look – you really can’t go wrong.
I’ve worn these gingham pants no less than 5 times since I got them a couple of weeks ago. They’re a statement.. but at the same time go with basically everything. From office chic with a crisp white shirt and blazer to day-date ready with a chambray off the shoulder top and fun lace-up heels.
For years I stuck to the exact same swimmer silhouette (a triangle top and side tie bottoms) thinking that it was the only style that would be flattering. Which I realize now was, frankly, crazy. Last summer I tried a handful of new silhouettes and never looked back. Before we headed to the West Coast I picked up a few more new silhouettes for the summer (honestly, now is the time to buy swimsuits – there’s nothing worse than a picked over selection mid season) and couldn’t wait to share. I tend to gravitate towards slightly more conservative cuts – a cute one piece, a high waisted bottom, or this new surfsuit – but whatever your style I hope this inspires you to get out of your comfort zone and try on a new silhouette for this season. You never know.. it might just become your new favorite!
Honey, I’m home! One of the things I was most looking forward to about Palm Springs was scoping some of their famous mid century mod homes. Known for their one story ranch style, minimal lines and bright pops of color the houses here feel like nothing I’ve seen anywhere else. So naturally.. I dressed to match.
