WHAT TO PACK: NEW ENGLAND ROAD TRIP

The bags are packed, the tank is full of gas. Adam and I are setting off for a road trip up the New England coast to Maine! I haven’t been in years (and even then didn’t ever really the chance to explore) and Adam has never been – so we both can’t wait to get there and explore. If you have recommendations for Kennebunkport, Portland or beyond feel free to send them my way!

In the meantime, I figured I’d share exactly what’s in my bag. Since the weather will be cooler than it is here in the city – I figured it was the chance to bring lots of layers and light jackets. This open draped camel coat and quilted primaloft jacket are new in and I already know they’re going to be the MVP’s of my fall wardrobe. Plus chunky sweaters (this cabled turtleneck is just begging for a foggy dock), goes with everything ankle boots, and – because you can’t go north this time of year without it – plaid. Bring on the lobster rolls.

YELLOW FLORAL DRESS AND DENIM JACKET

Monday in the rearview, a 3 day work-week (thanks to travel for my cousin’s wedding at the end of this week) and weather that is nothing short of blissful. AKA a list of things I’m focusing on instead of missing a blog post on Monday, stress due to only being at work for 3 days this week and the thought that summer is ending soon. It’s all about perspective right? For instance I thought this was the perfect summer dress (yellow, floral and happy).. but now I’m starting to see that with a few layers (how about a cropped jacket in denim, leather or suede.. or a chunky crewneck sweater) this could just be the perfect fall dress too. Glass decidedly half full.

STRIPED KNIT DRESS AND BOATER HAT

I’ve talked about it before but one of my major goals over these past few years has been to focus more on quality, classic wardrobe items that really stay true to my personal aesthetic. A slightly nautical style is one I always gravitate towards, especially in summer (but give me an oversized fisherman sweater and dark denim come fall and I’ll be quite content). This striped knit dress and saddle bag are both examples of pieces that I know I’ll have for seasons to come.

INSTAGRAM ROUND-UP: LATE SUMMER

Reunited and it feels sooooo good! After 6 long days, countless stops in to Dr. Brendan’s (the East Village magicians/Mac doctors that diagnosed, tried, tried, tried again, and finally repaired), my laptop is safely back in my arms. RETRO-INSPIRED: OFF THE SHOULDER TOP AND CAT EYE SUNGLASSES

Ahhh.. hello again old friends. I didn’t plan to take the last few days off but a sinus infection turned kidney infection had other plans for me and today is the first day I’ve seen beyond my bedside table since Friday afternoon.
