I feel like I spent much of last summer at a wedding, bridal shower or bachelorette party. Meaning every time I spotted a pretty little white lace dress I realized I’d have zero chances of wearing it. But not this summer. This summer I’m reclaiming white and starting with nearly head to toe of the hue and this particular little white lace dress.

I’m all for the fact that denim skirts have made a valiant return to fashion in the past couple of years. I admittedly already own 2 knee length button front versions, but when I saw this zip front miniskirt version I figured it was just different enough to justify the purchase. And since you can never go wrong with a ‘jeans and tee’ kind of look – I added this white t-shirt with bell sleeves. P.S. I’m calling it now.. dramatic sleeves are the new ‘off the shoulder’ for this Fall.

I’ve talked about it before but one of my major goals over these past few years has been to focus more on quality, classic wardrobe items that really stay true to my personal aesthetic. A slightly nautical style is one I always gravitate towards, especially in summer (but give me an oversized fisherman sweater and dark denim come fall and I’ll be quite content). This striped knit dress and saddle bag are both examples of pieces that I know I’ll have for seasons to come.

Happy August! After spending last weekend/week sick in bed – I was more than looking forward to this weekend. Aside from a gorgeous wedding Friday night, Adam and I were up bright and early Saturday morning to head to the Hamptons for the first time. Verdict? I finally get what all the fuss is about.

Aside from the occasional bridesmaid dress, I have attended countless weddings in some form of the same dress for the past 10 years. Just above the knee, nipped in waist and finished with a frill or a flounce or a floral for effect. And honestly, I love those dresses (this one especially). They’re flattering, classic and work well for dancing. But with 5 weddings on the docket this summer I was craving something different. Something that made an entrance, you know? Well, I found it.
