The Steele Maiden: Summer Style - Black Minidress and Straw Tote

We’ve only had a couple of really warm days so far (you’re welcome to arrive any day now Summer…), but in those few instances I’ve already determined my staples of the season.

SHOP THE STORY

The formula is as follows: easy knit, button down dress (that can be worn on or off the shoulder, and dressed up or down), simple leather sandals that are walk-everywhere comfy and a fun straw tote (I love the neutral stripe and round handle on this one). Wear and repeat. Also – these photos remind me of Charleston instead of New York and it makes me desperately want to go back. And not just for the guaranteed summer weather (see my full travel guide to the city here). I think it’s time I plan a Summer getaway, since I already know what I’ll be packing.

Every once in awhile you just really need a little black dress. Maybe it’s for an unexpected date night, or an upcoming event or you just suddenly feeling like getting dressed to kill. It’s a classic for a reason – the little black dress always works. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, I figured some of you may be looking for something to wear – and while something trendy or red or frilly is certainly fun – you’re going to get the most bang for your buck out of a LBD because you’re bound to wear it again and again. The Steele Maiden: Seersucker Off the Shoulder Dress

This past weekend it finally felt like summer. 90 degrees and endless sun. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to pack a picnic, or throw a backyard party. And so naturally.. you’ll need something to wear. This seersucker off the shoulder dress is it. I’ve deemed it my ‘summer occasion dress‘. And if that occasion ends up being just a walk to the corner ice cream truck.. I won’t mind.

Happy August! After spending last weekend/week sick in bed – I was more than looking forward to this weekend. COLD SHOULDER DRESS AND FRINGE CLUTCH

Ramy Brook Cold Shoulder Dress and Suede Fringe Clutch

Since Spring is still giving New York the cold shoulder, I decided to respond in kind this past weekend with this silky little Ramy Brook tunic dress. Sure, I had to pair it with jeans – and a not pictured coat – but it had been burning a hole in my closet ever since I picked it up at the Ramy Brook showroom last week.. so you know, practically an eternity.
