As we start to bridge the gap between Summer and Fall I’ve been reaching for materials like suede and calf hair that are perfect for Fall, but in pieces that work for the last of Summer’s heat.

We may not have backyards in NYC (well, unless you’re very lucky) – but what we do have are pretty amazing parks. Washington Square Park is just a short walk away from our apartment and in the Summer one of my favorite activities is packing a picnic, soaking up the sun and watching the city pass by. One of the greatest perks of living in NYC is access to an ever-changing influx of new things to see and do. So when a friend told me about Heyday – a facial shop in the Flatiron District that would change my ‘anti-spa’ attitude.. I had to see for myself. One step into their minimal yet inviting doors and I was totally converted.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all in this city (and trust me.. I’ve seen some things), Manhattan goes and blows you away all over again. This weekend, 166 blocks north of our apartment (plus 18 subway stops and about a mile hike later) we tracked down the last standing lighthouse in the city. And it was well worth the trek.

I’ve been sharing quite a bit of casual, weekend style these days on the blog. And while I like to fantasize that this blog could be my full time gig, the reality is that if you catch me midweek I’m much more likely to be dressed like this and on my way to the office than like this and on my way to Central Park.
