The Steele Maiden: Pastel Winter Accessories Under $50

Well helloooo there Friday! The first full 5-day week back at work in 2018 and it passed by in a blur of 10 hour days at my desk… anyone else? Needless to say I’m ready for the weekend.

Likewise, I’m ready for ways to dress up my boring black and grey winter coats. And now that the glitz of the holidays has faded, pastel winter accessories feel like a fresh way to do that. I’m especially into the touches of velvet, hits of lavender/baby blue and fun hats (as evidenced in the above photo). Oh – and everything is under $50 because after December’s indulgences – January is a month that, I think we all can agree, was made for healthy eating and minimal spending.

SUMMER SEPARATES WITH SAKS OFF 5TH

The Steele Maiden: Floral Mini Skirt and Denim Jacket

While I’m naturally more drawn to dresses, I always find that the separates in my closet are the ones that get the most wear. A denim jacket, a printed floral mini skirt and a white sweater tank are all pieces that can be mixed and matched with just about everything else I own. And worn from season to season. Which is perfect because it felt like October yesterday?!

WHAT TO PACK: FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND

The Steele Maiden: What to Pack 4th of July Weekend Getaway

We’re headed to the lake for 4th of July weekend and I couldn’t be more excited for a few days of relaxing on the dock, hanging on the boat and soaking up sun (here’s hoping the weather cooperates!). No matter where you’re going, I’m guessing some of the above pieces will work. I keep it pretty casual at the lake, which means plenty of easy cotton tops or dresses (who cares if they get a little wrinkled), bright bikinis, comfy slip-on shoes and maybe a starry accessory or two for the big fireworks show over the water.

The Steele Maiden: Seersucker Off the Shoulder Dress

This past weekend it finally felt like summer. 90 degrees and endless sun. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to pack a picnic, or throw a backyard party. And so naturally.. you’ll need something to wear. This seersucker off the shoulder dress is it. I’ve deemed it my ‘summer occasion dress‘. And if that occasion ends up being just a walk to the corner ice cream truck.. I won’t mind.
