GINGHAM CROP TOP AND WIDE LEG CHINOS

The Steele Maiden: Anthropologie Gingham Crop Top and Wide Leg Chinos

This Saturday it was finally warm and sunny, giving us our first taste of summer in the city. That magical time where everyone is outside, everything is in bloom and you feel like a kid on vacation from school again. And if I’m going to relive my 90s childhood – I may as well do it in a throwback crop top, right?

SUMMER STYLE: STRIPED OFF THE SHOULDER DRESS

Summer Style: Asos Striped Off the Shoulder Dress

If I’m being completely honest, I’ve been in a bit of creative blog slump for the past few weeks. While lots could be to blame (being busy at work, conflicting travel schedule between Adam and I, life in general…) – the result was that I was turning out posts that I felt less than excited about. Which has never been the point of this little space. It’s meant to be a place where you turn for inspiration to get out there and explore your own city (and beyond!) in style. Not a guide for to how to stand in front of a wall and smile… but there it was. Lucky for us all – on Friday I had the day off work (all hail Summer Fridays) and so I picked myself and headed to one of my favorite happy places in the city. The Met’s rooftop. With sweeping views of the city and a glass of rosé in hand, I felt inspired all over again and by the time Adam caught up with me that evening I was brimming with new ideas. A change of view will do that to a girl I guess. So stick around, we’ve got lots coming your way these next few weeks that I’m truly excited to share – starting with today’s post shot on one of my favorite streets in Greenwich Village.

Even though the temperatures haven’t felt exactly winter-like lately, it’s supposed to cool down this weekend and I’m all for getting cozy. Which means textured knits, soft colors, and an extra spicy chai tea latte or two.
