CASUAL THANKSGIVING DAY OUTFIT

The Steele Maiden: Casual Thanksgiving Day Outfit - Glitter Sweater, Cropped Jeans and Kitten Heels

As much as I love a fancy dress or twirl-worthy skirt for the holidays, my family tends to keep it pretty casual. So I’m always looking for ways to feel festive but not overly done up. And let’s be honest – after a round of seconds and dessert on Thanksgiving day – I’m adding the casual dress code as yet another thing I’m thankful for.

SHOP THE STORY

I picked up this neutral, metallic thread sweater for just $20 the other week and while it adds a fun touch of shine – it’s essentially just as comfortable as wearing a sweatshirt. Same goes for the relaxed fit,  cropped jeans that I paired with these leopard print kitten heels (see how I dressed them up here). And then – to make the whole thing feel like I put in a little effort – this velvet turban headband and loose waves (full holiday hair tutorial here). Put together enough for a group photo with family/friends at the table, but could also handle a post turkey-coma nap. Now pass the pumpkin pie.

SUMMER TO FALL TRANSITIONAL STYLE WITH OLD NAVY

The Steele Maiden: Summer to Fall Transitional Style with Old Navy

August is that tricky time when I never want to give up Summer weather, but I’m also starting to crave a Fall wardrobe. Which is why I try to find pieces that can bridge that gap (even better when they’re super affordable from Old Navy). A lightweight polka dot dress and cute ruffled sleeve floral top are both pieces that can easily be worn now and later. Here, two ways to wear both pieces.

For now, I’ll be tossing this polka dot dress on, grabbing a straw tote and sandals and soaking up the last of that summer sun. This would make for a cute Labor Day weekend backyard barbecue outfit too! And in a few more weeks when the morning’s start to turn cool, I’ll add this light cardigan (love the little fringe detail on this one) and switch to suede booties and a wine-stained lipstick to match.

I talked about it earlier this week – but the ‘statement top’ trend isn’t going anywhere for Fall and florals are going to be a major trend too (not mad about it). I love that this top is long sleeved so it transitions easily, but has that cute cut-out and ruffle detail. For now, I played up the summer whites for an easy weekend brunch look. But come Fall, I’ll be wearing it with this suede moto jacket (looks 3x as expensive as it actually is) and these cropped dark jeans. I like that they’re really clean but have a subtle little flare at the ends and a raw hem. They’ll go with everything I tell ya.

BRB going to enjoy the last few weeks of Summer and simultaneously dream of Fall fashion.
