After seemingly months of being drawn to nothing but neutrals – I’m suddenly craving rich, vivid color. Since it’s officially spring now (feel free to catch up any time now weather), I think it’s officially time to indulge. First up on my radar – marigold yellow. Try wearing this color – in a breezy eyelet top, swinging pom earrings or cool suede sneakers – and not feeling happy.. I dare you.

To note: it is still not Spring. But on just the right day, when the wind dies down and you catch a sidewalk bathing in sunshine.. you can slip off your Winter coat and pretend for a second. It helps if you are wearing a pretty floral embroidered shirt that tricks you into believing May flowers are about to bloom.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – winter is NOT my season. Between daylight savings and the first really warm Spring day.. I spend most of my time hopscotching my way through the city to always walk on the sunny side of the street. That and planning imaginary vacations to tropical islands. In the meantime, I picked up this bell sleeve sweater that’s basically like an instant dose of Vitamin D.

Each year, Pantone dubs a particular shade their color of the year and for 2017 they’ve named ‘Greenery’ – a bright, lush shade of green meant to represent the comfort and reassurance of nature during an otherwise tumultuous political and social climate. While I typically don’t wear a lot of the color green I love the thought behind the shade this year and whether it’s bringing in more live plants to our apartment (these little pots would be cute in a row) or adding small doses mixed with neutrals in my wardrobe (this shift dress does a great job at mixing in other colors), I’m definitely going to be finding ways to incorporate the hue. Of all the trends this fall – or dare I say it.. holiday season – the one I may be most excited about is velvet. In rich jewel tones on everything from sumptuous side chairs to luxe sneakers to sharp blazers, velvet is popping up everywhere. And I admittedly want to add touches of it everywhere. As George Costanza (of Seinfeld fame) once said ‘I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable’. This season, it just may be. Here – a few of my very favorite options.
