How are those New Year’s resolutions going friends? While I don’t really subscribe to the whole crash diet starting January 1st mindset, I love using a new year as a chance to raise the bar for myself when it comes to my usual routine. This time it’s another half marathon in the spring. Gulp. But as always in life, a cute outfit doesn’t hurt the efforts.
Not only am I in a mild state of disbelief that Christmas is less than a week away – but the thought that New Year’s Eve is just around the corner has me in a general state of shock. Adam and I have tentative plans to head down to my cousin’s beach house in Delaware and have a fairly low-key NYE – but that doesn’t mean that I won’t want to still get a bit dressed up. This off the shoulder sweater and pleated metallic midi skirt balances that line between night out glitz and night in cozy in a fun way.
If you were following along this summer, than you know that I was wayyy on board with the off the shoulder trend. And honestly, felt a little sad about the thought of putting those tops and dresses away until next spring. Luckily for me, when fall trends started to surface I spotted the newest rendition – the off the shoulder sweater – and was relieved to find I could carry this style right into fall.
Last week’s trip was Adam and I’s first time visiting Miami and while it was originally booked largely due to the warm forecast and cheap flights – I can’t say enough good things now that I’m back. The international flavors, art deco architecture, miles of beaches, endless nightlife and dynamic art culture all mixed together to create a daily feast for the senses. If you’re on the East Coast (or elsewhere) and just survived a winter – it’s the perfect escape. Here – a must visit/eat/see list if you are thinking of saying ‘Bienvenidos a Miami’ anytime soon:
I was originally going to show these outfits in two separate posts – but when I noticed that both featured a casual plaid top, distressed denim and loafers.. I figured they were meant to be twinning together. Turns out this is my go-to weekend look because for the past two Saturdays I’ve reached for some variation. Comfortable, casual and a tiny bit holiday-inspired? A winning combo in my book.
An easy flannel button-down is a staple this time of year and when you pair it with a v-neck tee (these are my absolute favorite) there’s almost nothing more comfortable. This look is pretty no frills, so I added these holiday loafers (they’re embroidered with a car carrying a christmas tree on one foot and a tree-lined road on the other!) to put a little extra pep in my step. I’m definitely wearing these when we go to pick out our tree this weekend.
