There’s nothing quite like the promise of a new season. After a summer that admittedly had its ups and downs (see here: the great computer crash of August and the sinus turned kidney infection that struck in July), I’m ready to start a fresh chapter of the year. One of the ways that for me always marks a new season is new fashion.. however, I’m not quite ready to store away my white denim. Luckily, a neutral mix like this one works well in any season.
And just like that – Summer is over and Fall is here. Labor Day is one of my favorite times to take advantage of sales and pick up a few new items for the season ahead. Below – my top picks. Hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend!
There’s always something so bittersweet about Labor Day. I hate to see Summer come to an end, but I also love kicking off Fall with a long holiday weekend. To make the most of these last few unofficial days of the season, I’m mixing up an easy recipe for White Wine Peach and Basil Sandra. Make a big batch and enjoy over a day or so – the longer it sits the better it gets!
SHOP THE STORY
To be completely honest, I’m usually more of a beer or cocktail girl myself. But earlier in the Summer I attended an event to celebrate the launch of The Dreaming Treecollection of wines and ever since, I knew I wanted another taste. In lieu of drinking it straight (although that tastes good too) – I opted for a Sangria that could make the the most of white wine and also summer’s fruits. The Sauvignon has a nice dryness to it that paired nicely with the sweetness of the fruit – and then was tempered by the basil. All in all, an effortless drink to sip throughout the weekend. Whether you’re partying at the beach or hunkering down while Hurricane Hermine passes through. Cheers to 3 days off work!
After spending the past couple of months in lightweight dresses (my only defense against humid 90 degree days in the city), I’m admittedly kind of looking forward to throwing on a pair of jeans again. But mainly, because the fall blouses and shirts I’ve been seeing around lately can totally up your denim game. From slouchy lace-up stripes to feminine lace in the most striking shade of marigold – I can’t wait to get my hands on a few of the below:
I’m all for the fact that denim skirts have made a valiant return to fashion in the past couple of years. I admittedly already own 2 knee length button front versions, but when I saw this zip front miniskirtversion I figured it was just different enough to justify the purchase. And since you can never go wrong with a ‘jeans and tee’ kind of look – I added this white t-shirt with bell sleeves. P.S. I’m calling it now.. dramatic sleeves are the new ‘off the shoulder’ for this Fall.
