I’ve finally decided on my Halloween costume (the adventurous young couple from Moonrise Kingdom.. somehow the boy has agreed, scout’s uniform and all). If you haven’t yet seen the movie (dvd release Oct. 16th!), you should absolutely take the time. Signature Wes Anderson meets endearing childhood love story. I personally was never a girl scout, but tying this fox print Tory Burch scarf around my neck would seemingly conjure up the feel. Albeit far more luxe. And while we’re at the game of childish dreams, you’ll never guess where this beautiful and affordable gilded table lamp came from… Land of Nod (they sell children’s home decor to those unfamiliar)! Use this month’s holiday as an excuse to act like someone different, or in my case, just a younger cooler version of yourself.

There’s nothing like the changing of the seasons to leave you feeling completely inspired. Today I happened upon the Current/Elliot Fall lookbook and couldn’t help but picture myself completing the seasonal tasks listed above while wearing a similar look.
(*Full disclosure: Despite yesterday’s Call of Duty post, I still felt hesitant about embracing camo.. that is until I saw this military style blazer paired with an easy plaid dress. Consider me converted.)

Blame it on the upcoming elections (p.s. go vote) or just plain cyclical fashion, but for better or worse military is back in fashion this fall. You could go the easy camo route (which isn’t a bad choice given that these Zara gems have made it into just about every blogger’s wardrobe), but I say take a different spin. Corduroys in deep burgundy (another hit of the season) are a perfect contrast against the neutrals here. Add shine with a hefty watch and heels to keep the whole thing from skewing too masculine. I chose shorts here to play up the still warm west coast weather, but these skinnies from Madewell will be a better option come cooler days.
