summer romance

The Steele Maiden: Summer RomanceI mentioned I’d been working on something pretty exciting lately and I’m thrilled to be able to finally share it with you.  If you haven’t been reading The Everygirl then you’re totally missing out – you’ll find everything from career advice, beautiful home decor ideas and naturally, fashion styling – and you already know I’m head over heels (pun intended) with Sole Society, so when they wanted to team up for a feature on how to style Summer scarves I jumped at the chance.  You can see the full feature here – but over the next few days I’ll also be sharing more of each look.  This date night outfit with a scarf worn as an easy wrap (why is it so cold in restaurants these days?) was one of my favorites.  Sole Society Scarf c/o // Dex Lace Pullover c/o – available via Nordstrom // F21 Mini Skirt // Midi Rings – similar via Bauble Bar // Seychelles Wedges The Steele Maiden: Summer Romance

pink at the park

The Steele Maiden: Pink at the ParkThis week has been close to frantic levels of busy – between longer work days, putting in time of some really exciting blog projects launching very soon, and having been away all weekend and getting ready to leave again this weekend it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day/week/month.  Anyone else out there feeling the same?  I feel what helps is even squeezing in 15-20 minutes of sanity throughout the day.  For me, that’s my walk to and from work – especially when Adam meets me and we can just talk and take in the city without worrying about life’s little stresses or checking emails.  I’ve had this floral dress since the winter but it’s been begging for a pair of tan legs.  And cute shoes, naturally.  Can we talk about how good these printed, 1940’s pin-up worthy wedges are? They’re almost enough to make me forget all over that overflowing inbox. p.s. Don’t forget to enter my giveaway with Gloss48 here to pick up some Summer beauty essentials on us! Lulu’s Dress – cute floral shift dress via Ruche // Zara Bag // Restricted Wedges c /o // Lulu Frost Necklace

hot tropics

The Steele Maiden: Hot Tropics
One of the things I love most about being back in New York (and the East Coast in general), is the shift in seasons.  It’s as if overnight everything changes – cool mornings give way to hot nights and with it my Springtime obsession for pastels has faded.  Now all I want is bold, saturated color.  Marigold yellow, cherry red, grass green – this is the palette of Summer.  These tropical printed shorts I picked up last weekend are the perfect base for playing with other colorful extras like these retro wooden sandals from my friends at Restricted, bright lipstick and sunny statement earrings.  Chambray and loose waves (sort of a signature at this point) rounded out the look.

p.s.  if you want to get ‘just got off the beach’ waves for yourself – be sure to enter my giveaway with Gloss48 here – 2 lucky winners will win a gift card to pick up hair products like this or anything else their Summer-loving hearts desire.

Lulu Frost Earrings – now on sale via Shopbop // J.Crew Chambray Shirt // F21 Shorts // Restricted Footwear Sandals c/o // Vintage Bag // MakeupForever Lipstick in Bright Orange

summer beauty GIVEAWAY with Gloss48

The Steele Maiden: Gloss48 Summer Beauty Giveaway
Now that we’re finally in the full swing of Summer (and may I add just how seriously glorious that is), its time to switch up my beauty routine a bit.  Between the warm weather and my packed schedule, minimum is crucial but if I’m using fewer products they really need to count.  Enter Gloss48, a membership sale site that offers a rotating selection of amazing beauty products.  Already, I’ve found the perfect ‘just got off the beach’ salt spray for my hair from Clarisea (for saying goodbye to that hot hairdryer), bright punchy lip gloss from Amour (which balances out wearing next to no makeup otherwise), and all natural, seriously long-lasting nail color from Beauty for Real (for sandal ready pedicures).  You could get lost in this site so naturally, I had to share.  Two lucky winners will win a $25 gift card to pick up a selection of their own Summer beauty essentials – good luck!

fade to black

The Steele Maiden: Fade to Black
If there’s ever been a question of what to wear for a night out in Manhattan – the answer has always been all black plus a few great accessories.  It’s a no fail combo that I fell back on this past weekend for a girl’s night out – grabbing a pair of often worn skinny jeans and tank, adding my highest ankle strap stilettos, favorite vintage bags – and then to keep things from becoming entirely predictable these Loren Hope knockout statement earrings.  You all know I love a good statement necklace, but the statement earring feels totally cool right now and a bit unexpected against the simplicity of black basics and a not too sleek ponytail.  Below I’ve rounded up a few other stiletto and statement earring combos I’m loving right now – because, well, it’s Friday and is any other really excuse needed?

p.s. We’re headed out to Adam’s lake house this weekend so be sure you’re following me here to see what I’m packing and my (most likely failed) attempts at water-skiing.
