The-Steele-Maiden-Cheap-Monday-Series-New-Years-On-A-Dime

Not to distract from the big day tomorrow, but New Year’s Eve is just a week away!  And since most of your spare change is probably already sitting under the tree here’s a few relatively inexpensive options to make the night special without starting off 2013 in the red…

Nest: If you’re headed to a party this Joseph Altuzarra for Target Cocktail Shaker or tumbler set makes a great hostess set (they’re on sale now!), or if you’re staying home they’ll be a great addition to your barware all year long.

Dressed: This BCBG dress packs a punch.  A steal for $49.00 (also on sale!) this lame maxi dress with a high slit somehow toes the line between really dressed up and cooly laid back.  So very Diane Von Furstenberg at Studio 54 in her heyday.

The Rest: These invitations can be digitally downloaded from Etsy, meaning if you decided to throw a spur of the moment shindig there’s still time to send out a fancy invite.  Now all you need is the bubbly.

We’re halfway through a long weekend here and have finished all the running around just in time to relax for the next couple of days.  I’m looking to do a before and after of some of the work I’ve been doing around the townhouse these past couple of weeks, but until then – hope you’re enjoying the holiday season as much as I am!

While the move delayed the decorating a bit, I’m finally in full holiday swing here.  The tree is up, cards are on the mantle and shopping is done.  And with a four day weekend ahead, now I’ve got wrapping, baking, and general holiday reveling in store.  Turn up your favorite Christmas song, put on something festive and enjoy!  It only comes once a year after all.  Happy Friday!

Is there anything more festive than sequins?

The key is to let them make the statement, and then counterbalance with neutrals and added texture.  For your office party pair a shiny printed dress with a cardigan for a look that will work during the day – but top it off with Dorothy-worthy glittery stacked heels for kicking it up with some spiked punch later that night.  On Christmas Day, go casual in relaxed jeans and an ankle boot, but throw in some holiday cheer with a sequined sweater (this one is actually from the little Girl’s section, but get the largest size and it will be a cute cropped look when paired with looser boyfriend jeans).  And for the glitziest of all holidays?  Ring in the New Year in sequined hot shorts (because honestly, when else), especially fun when paired with contrasting patterned tights.  Balance out the flash with a more modest top, like this white peplum top.  Go forth and shine.

(Xmas Day: Dolce Vita Boots, Gap Cardigan, Nordstrom Jeans)
(New Years Eve: Forever 21 Top, Ruche Shorts, Anthropologie Tights)
