I’ve been talking a lot about Fall trends – and while i’m all for a new season and new fashion, I also like finding small ways to update the pieces already in my wardrobe. One of the ways I’m most excited about this season is adding a silk scarf to my outfits. The obvious way is tied around your neck, but after picking up this printed Italian silk scarfa few weeks ago I’ve been finding all sorts of ways to wear it. It’s a small touch that I think makes a big impact, without a big investment this season.
And just like that – Summer is over and Fall is here. Labor Day is one of my favorite times to take advantage of sales and pick up a few new items for the season ahead. Below – my top picks. Hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend!
After spending the past couple of months in lightweight dresses (my only defense against humid 90 degree days in the city), I’m admittedly kind of looking forward to throwing on a pair of jeans again. But mainly, because the fall blouses and shirts I’ve been seeing around lately can totally up your denim game. From slouchy lace-up stripes to feminine lace in the most striking shade of marigold – I can’t wait to get my hands on a few of the below:
I know we’re still a week or so out, but I can’t help but already be mulling over what to pack for Labor Day weekend. As Summer’s official last hurrah I always use it as a chance to wear my season’s favorites (swimsuit, cutoffs and sandals I’m lookin’ at you) but also as a chance to work in a few early fall pieces – like a lightweight cargo jacket and lace-up sweater. Below, what will be in my own bag (this weekend as I head to the beach for my cousin’s wedding and next when we most likely head to the lake).
The shift between season is sartorially-speaking always the trickiest to me. The weather has never caught up but you’re craving what’s new. But practically-speaking transitional pieces are some of the hardest working in your wardrobe because they span the seasons. Here – a few of my favorites that will be so good once fall comes, but are great now too. There’s a seventies meets victorian romantic meets mod prep thing happening in fashion (okay maybe not all at once..) and I’m really on board. An olive green satchel bag? Absolutely. An embroidered mini skirt? Sign me up. Fall fashion should feel FUN, so why not start that party a little early, right?
