WINTER WORKWEAR WITH MAGGY LONDON

The Steele Maiden: Winter Workwear - Maggy London Red Floral Shift Dress

Earlier in the Fall I polled you guys on Instagram to ask what you wanted to see more of going forward – and one of the standout results was a request for more work-wear. When it comes to office style, I’m lucky to work in a ‘creative casual’ environment. But as my role has grown and I’ve become responsible for running meetings and managing a small team – I’ve started to rely on pieces that lean towards a more polished look.

One of my very favorite office-friendly brands is Maggy London. I first worked with them at the end of the summer here and wore those 3 dresses on repeat through the Fall. So when they came back and asked me to style a few looks that would transition from Fall to Winter I jumped at the chance. Their work dresses always feel feminine without being frilly and office-appropriate without being boring.

You can see all three looks that I styled here and below is this red floral shift dress, my favorite from the three I styled (apparently I’m on a red dress kick lately). I love that it feels festive enough to wear straight out after work for holiday cocktails. Not to mention, seriously flattering.

And lastly, since we’re right in the middle of my 5 days of giveaways – I’m giving away this same dress here. Good luck!

NYFW STYLE: MOD PRINTED SILK SHIFT DRESS & BARDOT HAIR

The Steele Maiden: NYFW Mod style with Bardot hair and butterfly printed silk shift dress

Short and sweet. Accurately describing my dress and also my NYFW experience this go around. But we’ll start with the outfit shall we? You already know that my favorite style decade is the 60s so when I’m really going for it fashion-wise, I tend to draw from that time period. I went mod with this butterfly printed silk shift dress (a nod to my late grandmother who loved nothing more than a bright butterfly and a new outfit), sheer dotted tights, sleek booties, rose colored glasses and Bardot hair.

MONOCHROME PINK FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

The Steele Maiden: Monochrome Pink for Valentine's Day

Admittedly, I’m a bit of a cynic when it comes to Valentine’s Day. It all just feels a bit forced. But dressing the part? I’m totally fine giving into that. I think my style has become considerably more streamlined in recent years but from time to time (and especially on a holiday that begs for over the top), I don’t mind adding an extra flounce or too.

BELL SLEEVE SWEATER AND NEUTRAL ANKLE BOOTS

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – winter is NOT my season. Between daylight savings and the first really warm Spring day.. I spend most of my time hopscotching my way through the city to always walk on the sunny side of the street. That and planning imaginary vacations to tropical islands. In the meantime, I picked up this bell sleeve sweater that’s basically like an instant dose of Vitamin D.

STRIPED TEE AND BLUE VELVET HEELS

The Steele Maiden: Winter Blues - Blue Trousers, Velvet Heels and Striped Tee

Before I they called it Seasonal Affective Disorder (or SAD) – I think they just called it the Winter Blues. From which I most definitely suffer. Between the seemingly endless cold, grey days and the fact that it’s dark by 4:30PM, the winter months always leave me feeling generally a bit lackluster. So my best defense? Force myself to get outside and take advantage of any and all sun, while wearing something happy. Which for me, ironically, means the color blue.
