I feel like I spent much of last summer at a wedding, bridal shower or bachelorette party. Meaning every time I spotted a pretty little white lace dress I realized I’d have zero chances of wearing it. But not this summer. This summer I’m reclaiming white and starting with nearly head to toe of the hue and this particular little white lace dress.
As soon as we landed in Charleston I couldn’t wait to slip into this summer-y outfit. In fact, I had bought these shorts (on majorrrr sale) weeks before and was saving them for exactly this occasion. Well mainly for weather above 60 degrees. But a matching pastel-hued city definitely didn’t hurt.
‘Actually, the best gift you could have give her was a lifetime of adventures…’
I love that quote by Lewis Carroll. Adam and I agreed from the beginning of our relationship that we’d rather spend money on shared travels than gifting each other ‘things’ for holidays and birthdays. There just isn’t a pair of designer shoes in the world that I’d prefer over you know.. seeing the actual world. So for my 30th birthday we went back to Charleston (a city we’d briefly stopped through on our drive cross country in 2012) and as a gift on the last day, Adam surprised me with details of our next trip. Hint.. it’s a big one! Here’s to a lifetime of adventures.
On Saturday, Adam and I celebrated my 30th birthday, and our first night in Charleston, by getting dressed up and heading out for dinner and drinks. I’ll be sharing all of our stops along the unofficial food and drink tour we indulged in on during our trip, but for now let’s focus on the outfit. This pink ruffle wrap dress made me feel like a cupcake as soon as I tried it on.. so what better time to wear it than my birthday?
We headed to Charleston in search of warm, sunny weather to escape the cold, dreary spring we’ve been suffering from in New York. And we got exactly what we were looking for. The days were nearly 90 degrees – with plenty of humidity to go around – so I was thankful that I had packed these easy linen pieces from Old Navy.
