NEW YEARS EVE PARTY STYLE: VELVET MINISKIRT AND LACE OFF THE SHOULDER TOP

I try not to take my style too seriously, and New Year’s Eve should be no exception. There’s seemingly so much pressure to have this extravagant night out on New Year’s (my friend Jen of Skirt the Rules wrote a great blog post about not giving in to that pressure) and the perfect sequined designer dress to match.. but some of my happiest NYE memories have been surrounded by just a few friends at someone’s house in an outfit pulled straight from my own closet.

This off the shoulder lace top is actually a dress that I picked up last year and these floral booties were last seen here. The velvet miniskirt and sparkly socks were new for the holidays but I’ll be wearing both right into the new year. If yesterday’s outfit was a little bit nineties inspired, than this is a little bit eighties inspired (more specifically from Sally’s look in the final scene of When Harry Met Sally) in all its choker, velvet and off the shoulder goodness. One day closer to the end of the year, one more outfit as inspiration and still no big plans. But in the spirit of not giving in to the hype.. that’s totally okay right?
