Yesterday I launched part one of my ‘Complete Guide to the Holidays‘ which featured style inspiration & gifting ideas for the season ahead – and over the next couple of weeks I’ll be showing you the expanded posts and closer looks at some of those featured looks. Of everything we shot for the guide this feature on ‘His and Hers Holiday Style’ was by far my favorite. I’m lucky enough to always have Adam’s partnership behind the scenes/lense (that guide never would have launched on time had it not been for his tireless support) – but it was such a treat to have him with me in front of the camera as well. And in a classic ’54 chevy? All the better.

I find that during the holiday season there are at least 5 occasions where Adam and I call to each from our closets – what are you wearing? Can I wear _____ to ______? Insert here: Christmas Eve dinner at your grandparent’s house, a tree trimming party with friends or taking holiday card photos. Finding outfits that coordinate but don’t feel too overly matched and are festive without being super dressy can sometimes feel impossible.
Since I’m almost always cold, I like to find a coat that can be part of the outfit and adds a dash of holiday spirit. This menswear inspired version has a blue velvet trimmed lapel and pockets and has just enough subtle color in the plaid that it surprisingly goes with everything. Underneath, a simple ivory shift dress that’s comfortable and compliments just about every figure. Plus these velvet Mary Jane heels. Because if their ever was an excuse to wear incredibly fun footwear, the holiday season is it.
And for Adam – or the men in your life you’re undoubtedly going to have the same conversations with – he kept it classic. Tan corduroy pants that add a bit of texture to the outfit, a cozy pullover sweater (I love the shawl collar on this one) and just a hint of a plaid shirt peeking out at his collar and cuffs. It’s put together without being at all fussy. AKA perfect.
