If you’ve been stopping by The Steele Maiden for any length of time, than you already know I love mixing in on-trend affordable pieces from Old Navy to my seasonal wardrobe (in Fall I was all about this plaid poncho). Which is why I was pretty excited when Old Navy challenged me to style a holiday inspired look around a pair of their culottes.

Typically I’m a skirt or dress girl, which is why I’ve been hesitant to give the culotte trend a go thus far. But it turns out they’re just as easy to wear as a midi skirt (and even more comfortable). Since this checked grey pair already called menswear to mind, I went for an Annie Hall-esque look in a slouchy overcoat, flannel shirt/sweater combo and long knit scarf. And I have to say? I felt a lot cooler than my typical ‘grab a dress and go’ routine. Tis the season for trying new trends.
