One of the greatest perks of living in NYC is access to an ever-changing influx of new things to see and do. So when a friend told me about Heyday – a facial shop in the Flatiron District that would change my ‘anti-spa’ attitude.. I had to see for myself. One step into their minimal yet inviting doors and I was totally converted.
With endless options in this city I’ve become fairly discerning in trying new places. If I go once and it’s not A. a good value for the money, B. offering me something I can’t find elsewhere and C. highly instagramable (who doesn’t want to surround themselves with pretty things?) then I’m hard pressed to go back. Heyday passed all 3 with flying colors.
They opened their shop with the goal of “demystifying and simplifying” the idea of the facial. So instead of some overpriced, all day spa affair – they realized that people are busy and on a budget but still – if given the option – would love to have great skin. I tried their 30 minute treatment and between the comfortable, you’re in your own home (but you know, if your own home were perfectly decorated) feel and couldn’t have been sweeter technician I had the most relaxed half hour I’ve experienced in weeks. Not to mention my skin which feels like it’s breathing for the first time in years. And even more than that I feel like I actually understand my skin now – which goes a long way in caring for it properly. To top it all off, after the appointment I got an outline emailed to me of the routine I should be using at morning and night to optimize my skin.. justttt in case I was so zen that I missed her recommendations during the appointment.
