We had our first dusting of snow last night in New York (it actually started just as we were finishing these photos) and it was a clear reminder that winter is in fact.. coming. I’d be lying if I said that fact wasn’t a little bit heart-heavy to me, so I’m trying to combat the winter blues with unexpected outerwear options. That means trading my standard coat for a long faux fur vest and wool jacket combo (together they’re just as warm as your duffle coat I swear). And skipping my usual go-to knit beanie for a trĂ©s chic wool beret instead.
SHOP THE STORY
I originally thought this faux fur vest would be worn only for dressier occasions (and I still do plan to wear it over a pretty lace dress or with a full printed skirt), but I love how it looks with more casual pieces too. Plus, as is the logic with wearing an oversized poncho, this vest nearly feels like wearing an incredibly soft blanket. Making leaving the warmth of our apartment and braving the first frost a lot more bearable. And as long as the snow isn’t really accumulating, I swear by over the knee boots to add an extra layer of warmth over my jeans.
In other news – can you believe we’re less than two weeks from Christmas?! If you’re still in need of ideas, I’ve got gifts for her, gifts for him, gifts for the home, and gifts under $25 to help point you in the right direction!
