Of all the places that Adam and I go to escape on the weekends, our neighboring hometowns in the PA countryside is still one of our favorites. It’s the place where we first met and when the air turns crisp, the leaves start to change and the cornfields are full.. there’s just alway something that feels special about coming back here. While I’m usually a jeans and t-shirt girl back home, I was inspired by the classic scent of Ralph Lauren Romance to get a little dressed up, spread out some cozy blankets and take a quiet moment for just the two of us after a busy week in the city.

When I think of Fall romance, I picture cozy textures, warm jewel tones and inviting scents. This lush velvet dress in my favorite shade of blue felt right at home against piles of soft plaid blankets (I used a mix of oversized scarves – like this one and this one) and an overflowing bouquet of flowers. I picked roses plus a few other mixed varieties from a bodega in the city but then wrapped them in twine and added in freshly picked cat-tails once I got to PA. That city meets country mix kind of perfectly embodies Adam and I’s relationship come to think of it.
Before we set up our secret little hide-out tucked away behind the corn fields I sprayed the blankets with Ralph Lauren Romance (plus an extra spritz on myself) and it really added to the mood. I have a hard time finding perfume as I’m not a huge fan of super sweet smelling fragrances but I really love this one. It has a rich, woodsy musk and just a hint of floral to it that doesn’t come on too strong. And although not every morning can start with just the two of us and the sound of corn husks rattling in the wind, it was so nice to sneak away while we could. Plus, scent is truly such a powerful memory-sparker that I know whenever I wear this perfume back in the city on date nights it will still recall this perfect little romantic Fall moment.
