We may not have backyards in NYC (well, unless you’re very lucky) – but what we do have are pretty amazing parks. Washington Square Park is just a short walk away from our apartment and in the Summer one of my favorite activities is packing a picnic, soaking up the sun and watching the city pass by.
My “perfect picnic” kit starts with Turkish towels (lightweight so they can roll up into a smaller bag and easy to throw in the laundry if something spills), a few light bites (a cheese plate is my go-to but recently I tried this pesto crostini recipe and it was delicious!), main dish (I made a light pasta salad this time), fresh fruit, a small dessert (hello macarons) and finally a refreshing drink to share. It’s been hot out there – meaning soda just won’t do and well, flat water is too boring for a picnic this pretty. IZZE just introduced new sparkling waters (I’ve long since been a fan of their sparkling juices) – which are certified organic, flavored with a hint of organic cane sugar and rings in at just 10 calories per bottle (meaning more room for said dessert). The new water comes in Blackberry Pear (my personal favorite!), Mandarin Lime and Raspberry Watermelon and together they added the perfect dose of sparkle to the afternoon.
