As we head into the Summer months (and ahem.. bathing suit season), I find myself traveling more and more. And it’s easy to let vacations or long weekends away throw you off your fitness game. Which is precisely why I never travel without my sneakers and a few key pieces of activewear.
The first tip to squeezing in a vacation workout is simply that if you pack the activewear, you’re one step closer to using it. I am a carry-on only type of traveler, so you better believe that if I give up precious space to gym sneakers – I don’t want it to have been in vain. The second tip is that you need to consider where you’re headed and plan your workouts around that. Does the hotel have a gym or pool? Can you rent a bike? For this weekend’s trip to the lake house, I knew I’d have access to a running trail and the dock. Which meant some light stretching and yoga poses in the morning and an afternoon run, plus the chance to work on my stand up paddle boarding skills. And my third tip is to pack pieces that can do double duty. These cropped knit joggers were perfect for lounging around the cabin and replaced needing to pack an extra pair of pajamas. And this striped tank is so cute I paired it with boyfriend jeans for casual morning errands before wearing it to run later in the day. The thing about working out on vacation is that you have an opportunity to really mix up your routine and (as with any workout) I never regret it. And of course, new workout clothes never hurt either.
