Chameleon Cool.

I’m not sure if it was the military style vest or the abstract printed denim, or the ankle boots that matched the sidewalk, but I felt like I was dressed in urban camo once I left the house dressed in this.  (Editor’s Note: The term ‘urban camo’ makes me think of that incredibly unsightly snow leopard colored camouflage.. so I took some liberties and named this post ‘Chameleon Cool’ instead)…

This vest (last seen here), though a little bit more rugged than my usual style has pretty much carried me through the Southern California winter.  It’s the perfect layering piece to add a bit of warmth without a lot of bulk.  And these printed jeans, while I originally thought may be too crazy,  have proved surprisingly versatile.  I wear them like they’re regular jeans, paired with t-shirts, sweaters, and chambray – they work just the same.  I wore this look for a morning of flea market shopping (which if you follow me on instagram, you’d know proved to be quite a successful day) until the winter sun turned too warm and I had to change.  The life of a chameleon.. I mean blogger.

  1. I need your thoughts on trench coats, as another light layer. Namely, is a striped trench too trendy or worth my attempt to pull off?

  2. I just wore my trench today! And I venture to say that no version of a trench coat is ever too trendy. Mine is similar to this one http://bit.ly/12yJ7k0 – which makes it classic but a bit more girly than a traditional trench. As far as a striped version – this is one of the best I’ve come across so far http://bit.ly/YFIEat a bit more expensive but in a really classic shape and that subtle stripe will match everything you’d think to pair it with. And last but not least, if you want to really make a statement go with this one http://bit.ly/12yJcUP which is probably the most ‘trendy’ but so affordable. Spring in New York begs for a trench coat – let me know if you find one!

  3. Ah sorry for the hassle! If you copy and paste the links into your browser they should work alright. For some reason I’m unable to get them to show up as clickable links in the comments section? Let me know if that doesn’t work though and I’ll e-mail them to you 🙂
