I’ve talked about it before but one of my major goals over these past few years has been to focus more on quality, classic wardrobe items that really stay true to my personal aesthetic. A slightly nautical style is one I always gravitate towards, especially in summer (but give me an oversized fisherman sweater and dark denim come fall and I’ll be quite content). This striped knit dress and saddle bagare both examples of pieces that I know I’ll have for seasons to come.
If you were in New York City this weekend, then I think you understand that ‘hot’ would be an understated way to describe it. With ‘feels like’ temperatures teetering around 110 degrees its hard to believe that Fall will ever come. As someone who loves Summer I’m certainly not rushing it.. but like it or not, it will get cooler. And when that happens, I’m prepping my wardrobe now with a few key transitional pieces (like this floral off the shoulder top) that work for scorching days now and crisp nights later.
Reunited and it feels sooooo good! After 6 long days, countless stops in to Dr. Brendan’s(the East Village magicians/Mac doctors that diagnosed, tried, tried, tried again, and finally repaired), my laptop is safely back in my arms. With every single piece of my original data and running faster than it has since 2009. I swear if you are in New York you are wasting your time/money at the Apple Genius Bar. See my friends at Dr B’s instead (not sponsored, I’m just truly an enthusiastic customer).
Regardless, it cost me a week’s worth of posts here on the blog and I have lots to share – so I’m starting tonight with a quick little Instagram round-up from some of my favorite outfits, accessories and interiors from the past week or so. Details below and be sure to tune in this week as I bring you 5 consecutive days (I promise!) of fun new content.
Dressing for summer in New York City poses a particular set of challenges. You want to look put together enough for meetings at the office, brunch downtown, rooftop drinks and the general level of chic that this city demands (and deserves).. but at the same time. It’s hot. Like 100% humidity, elbow to elbow with sweaty strangers enduring a subway train breeze, radiating from the pavement you stand on… hot. This chambray cutout dress from Lou & Grey is definitely up to the challenge.
Happy August! After spending last weekend/week sick in bed – I was more than looking forward to this weekend. Aside from a gorgeous wedding Friday night, Adam and I were up bright and early Saturday morning to head to the Hamptons for the first time. Verdict? I finally get what all the fuss is about.
