There’s a point in the season where I stop fretting over the fact that winter is coming and starting being full out incredibly excited for the holidays. The day I put this buffalo plaid cape on was my turning point. The bright red bicycle trimmed like a tree certainly didn’t hurt either.
SHOP THE STORY
I know I said yesterday’s His & Hers holiday style post was my favorite from my ‘Complete Guide to the Holidays’ – but these were a veryyy close second. Adam and I got up early a few sunny Saturdays ago, rented this bike and headed to Prospect Park in Brooklyn – which if you haven’t been is beautiful and well worth the trip out of Manhattan. Until the weather turns truly freezing here in New York (which doesn’t usually happen until after the holidays), we try to take advantage of all the city has to offer outdoors as much as possible.
Which means I’m always on the look-out for outfits that feel festive but still comfortable and practical. I’m admittedly obsessed with this buffalo plaid cape which layers well with a neutral sweater and chambray shirt – but it would be so cute with a pop of color underneath too. Finished off with a slim pair of ponte leggings, suede loafers (these come in 15 colors!) and a tweed crossbody bag that leaves my hands free. I’ll be wearing this to pick out our Christmas tree, for trips to the ice skating rink, hot chocolate dates and of course – bike rides through the park.
