Tonight I’m finally carving/decorating my pumpkins with a few friends, and I plan on playing this ‘monster mash’ playlist to set the mood (upbeat yet a little eery).  Plus pumpkin rice krispie treats and pumpkin beer naturally.  I like a good theme.  Pictures of our pumpkin beauties to follow!

I’ve been there – the classic ‘it’s 2 days before Halloween and I don’t have a costume’ dilemma.  Happens to the best of us.  The above cinematic characters can all be pulled off with little more than your boyfriend’s button down, a few key accessories and some well styled hair.  For Breakfast at Tiffany’s ignore the expected pearls and LBD and go for Holly Golightly just waking up.  Wear the button down backwards, a slightly undone up-do, her signature sleep mask and black pumps.  For Edward Scissorhands, cut up the shirt a bit and then use the scissors as hands (be sure to wrap them in foam and silver duct tape pre-party), add tight black leggings, combat boots and extra wild hair.  Serious procrastinors: Tom Cruise in Risky Business is your guy.  Throw on a pair of Wayfarers, men’s socks and hit the road.

Stars, much like hearts, are one of those shapes that are mainstays when it comes to jewelry.  But I’ve always been partial to moons and with this season’s romantic/celestial feel, they seem to be showing up all over the place.  I’d layer a dainty necklace with a chunkier longer one (I’m loving the options that are a little more abstract), pair it with a maxi dress and ankle boots and you’ve got yourself a whole modern day Stevie Nicks thing going.
