As someone who leaves the house at precisely 8:45 AM and many days don’t get back until damn near 8:45PM, I’m always looking for pieces that can work overtime. Lately, I’ve been applying that same mindset to my beauty/hair routine – trying to find products and styles that are quick but still look polished after a long day running around the city. This new denim dress and the looped low ponytail I managed last week are both perfect examples.
I didn’t originally intend to take so many days off from posting for the holidays, but I just sort of slowly unplugged at Christmas and this past weekend.. and it felt pretty great. I’m hoping all of you had the chance to do the same. Feeling refreshed and ready to get back at it for the last few days of 2015 (how did that happen again??!)
There are lots of times I only manage to capture a photo or two of my daily outfit before work/weather/etc. cuts in and I have to be on my merry little way, and in those cases I usually end up just sharing a snippet on Instagram. But because lately I’ve noticed my outfits have had a common thread – great boots (like these or these) + warm scarf (like this or this) = easy Fall style – I thought I’d share a quick round-up of those Instagram looks here on the blog too. (more…)
If this little Mod dotted dress doesn’t say Fall I don’t know what does. The Seventies are huge this season, but I can never resist a bit of a Sixties reference (RIP Mad Men…). I wore this look to the office earlier this week but it would work just as well for a cocktail with the girls or a lunch date.
Whenever a new season comes along it can be easy to fall into the trap of running out and buying all the trendiest things – and sometimes trendier items like a bold poncho or bright skirt can be great because they make your wardrobe feel totally fresh. But never underestimate the power of keeping a good stock of season-less classics on hand. Case in point – this black pleated skirt, simple v-neck sweater, cashmere scarf and black pumps. They’re the pieces that I reach for again and again at the start of a busy day.
