I grew up a few hours from the Poconos Mountains and had always gone in winter to ski, but had never visited during the Summer until meeting Adam. His family has a cabin on Lake Wallenpaupack there and we are lucky enough to spend plenty of Summer weekends there now. For those in the New York area, it’s just a 2+ hour drive (car or bus are the easiest ways to get there) and a blissful escape from the city.

If you’ve dropped by already this week than you already know I spent the weekend soaking up the sun at the beach, but I wanted to give you the play by play on exactly what I had in my travel bag. We were there just shy of 48 hours but managed to fit in everything from bike riding to relaxing on the beach to a Saturday dinner date. Which meant everything I packed needed to be super versatile. I wore this striped chambray top for the car ride and also out to breakfast Sunday morning and this cute cotton romper went from a beach cover-up to happy hour with the addition of heels and a swipe of lipstick. This weekend’s escape to Ocean City, NJ was hard to describe as anything other than perfect. Weather hovered at exactly 75 degrees with nearly cloudless skies and we balanced long lazy hours on the beach with pancake breakfast dates and bike rides down the boardwalk.

This past weekend, Adam and I took a quick trip up to Boston to explore another city, work on an exciting project (launching this Summer!) and visit with some friends. Since it was a short but sweet trip, I packed only the essentials seen above (in this chic woven weekender bag). But truth be told, even if I had spent 3 or 4 days I wouldn’t have packed much more. By sticking to classic silhouettes, a similar color palette and just a couple of statement accessories you can easily mix and match for anything from sight-seeing to dinner and drinks.
