I already mentioned it here, but I’m an unashamed fan of Valentine’s Day. I like wearing a bit of pink now and then and I like any excuse to wear a pair of knockout heels. Even if it’s just to cook a special dinner in our tiny kitchen. And even though Adam and I don’t have big plans for next weekend, at least I’ve got the outfit ready now.

Friday! We made it! These first 5 weeks of 2016 have sort of wiped me out work-wise and as we lead up to NYFW I don’t see things slowing down. And while I’m lucky enough to enjoy my job, I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t leave me dreaming of a beach vacation and a nice large cocktail at the end of most weeks. In the meantime, I’ll take a casual Friday outfit like this one to celebrate making it through another busy week. And maybe still a nice large cocktail (like this one).

Anyone else excited about the prospect of an early Spring? Groundhog day predictions aside, I’ll take any excuse to ditch a heavy coat and scarf a few days of week in the winter and this look (worn for a brunch date a couple of weekends ago) is one that will be just as at home on a rainy April afternoon as it was on a mild January morning.

Happy February! When I look back on January, most of it was spent in distressed denim and cozy, oversized sweaters (not that I’m complaining..). But because I like a good balance, it felt nice to switch things up a bit and wear something more ladylike to the office last week.

I know this is slightly controversial.. but I happen to really like Valentine’s Day. And not just because I’m in a relationship. In fact, among some of my favorite Valentine’s Days memories were the ones spent with my best girl friends, drinking cheap beer and crafting homemade cards for each other. These days, Adam and I usually make dinner at home or go on a little adventure together somewhere in the city. As far as gifts go, if we do exchange I try to keep it small and sentimental – like a framed piece of artwork that reminds me of a shared memory (the one pictured above is from Minted which has an amazing selection, save 15% off their entire fine art selection with code VALENTINE16) or a vintage record to add to our collection. If you’re in need of a few more ideas.. for her, nothing beats pretty lace or a bit of sparkle and for him, luggage tags to prep for an upcoming trip or classic sunglasses are no-fail.
