SPRING TRENDS: WIDE LEG CHINOS

The Steele Maiden: Spring trends - wide leg chinos and bell sleeves

You guys. I hate to start every post talking about the weather.. but at heart I’m an 80 year old woman strolling through New York (this works well because at heart Adam is an 80 year old man grumbling about New York) and ALL I can talk about is our current weather. It’s glorious and giving me hope that I can in fact survive until true Spring. No better time to break out a new Spring trend then, right? Wide leg chinos are having a major moment for the season ahead and even though I was nervous to try them – I can tell you that they absolutely deserve a place in your wardrobe.

SHOP THE STORY

While they initially seemed a little intimidating I found that there are 2 important tricks to pulling the wide leg chino. One – add a heel, preferably one with a pointed toe. This striped pair doesn’t have a very high heel, but the bare ankles and elongated toe really help to balance the crop and width of the hem. And two – show your waist. Whether it’s a slim sweater or just a flouncy top or t-shirt, be sure to tuck it in so that you don’t get lost in the volume of these bad boys. I’ve seen lots of similar silhouettes in denim this season too if you’re afraid of the khakis but I’m excited that these will work for the office and also for weekends and that they feel like a real departure from my normal skinny jeans.

P.S. Obsessed with these geometric statement earrings. Apparently I’m all about trying new shapes for Spring.
