I know that around these parts I’ve started to mention Fall fashion.. but IRL (in real life) I’m savoring every last second of Summer. That includes after dinner trips to the neighborhood’s best ice cream shops, outdoor movies in the park, spontaneous day trips on the weekends and as many visits to the lake house as we can possibly squeeze in. With that in mind – I need clothing that is #FitToBe as carefree as I am at the end of the summer season. Enter NYDJ. I took a few of my favorite pieces from the brand along with me for a Friday evening in New York, Saturday picnic by the water and Sunday evening dock date (aka I ran them through the ringer) and here’s how it went…
7PM Friday: East Village, NYC (wearing NYDJ Sophia cropped flare – available here)
I usually rotate between skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans. However, cool girls and fashion magazines everywhere have been heralding the cropped flare (or kick flare) as theeee shape of the season so I couldn’t help but want to try. Turns out.. I loved it. These in particular have a high waist, relaxed but still slimming fit through the leg and are cropped perfectly above the ankle. Another plus? That built in stain protection for when I inevitably sit in something on the subway or dare to wear white while consuming guacamole and that second margarita.
2PM Saturday: Lake Ariel, PA (wearing NYDJ white denim Emily skirt and Peasant Blouse – available here)
I like to pack light when we escape the city on the weekends so I’m always looking for pieces that are really versatile and can be dressed up or down. For example, after these photos were taken I wore this blouse as a bathing suit cover up and that night wore the white denim skirt with wedge heels for dinner at the Boat House. Mainly though, I grabbed these pieces for their comfort since the skirt has a great stretch (but still holds its shape after sitting for awhile) and is stain resistant too plus the blouse catches the perfect amount of waterfront breeze. Added points for the fact that comfort aside I still felt cute enough for a picnic date by the lake.
6PM Sunday: Lake Wallenpaupack, PA (wearing NYDJ cotton lace Nanette dress)
The first time I ever went to the lake house with Adam I wore a white lace cotton dress. And there’s just something so ‘summer romance’ nostalgic about them ever since. Needless to say I couldn’t resist this one with it’s lace detail sleeves and pin-tucked front. Also.. if we’re being real here.. this one comes with a slip that has built in shape wear. So after a long weekend of beer runs and ice cream cones it still had me feeling #fittobe carefree. Now that’s love.
