Nautical Style: Talbots striped knit dress and straw boater hat

I’ve talked about it before but one of my major goals over these past few years has been to focus more on quality, classic wardrobe items that really stay true to my personal aesthetic. A slightly nautical style is one I always gravitate towards, especially in summer (but give me an oversized fisherman sweater and dark denim come fall and I’ll be quite content). This striped knit dress and saddle bag are both examples of pieces that I know I’ll have for seasons to come.

SHOP THE STORY

This dress was admittedly too hot for this past weekend but over by the East River (my favorite place to take a sunset stroll), there was just the slightest breeze that made it tolerable. And when humidity/sweat makes my hair less than tolerable, a light straw hat is my favorite trick. Or let’s be honest.. this dry shampoo. Finished it off with these wood platform sandals that I picked up on sale. Even though there’s not a ton of sandal season left, I know I’ll still love these when next year rolls around. Until then, I’ll be soaking up the heat as long as it lasts.
